As an 11 years old girl who once sat in a refugee camp, surviving with the bare minimum, Solange is dedicating this title to lead change globally and encouraging young girls to dream beyond their circumstances and take their dreams to new heights.
This beautiful Journey…
In 2004, as a young girl who once sat in refugee camp, I became the first woman of colour to win the Miss New Brunswick title. I would go on to become the first woman from New Brunswick to win a Miss Canada! This was a leadership develpopment opportunity where I learned to support initiatives from various sectors and communities across Canada and become an incredible keynote speaker on international platforms. Leading me to become a United Nations Children's Fund Ambassador in Canada.
I chose to use my Miss Canada scholarship to complete my Masters in Public Administration.
Since 2005 I have dedicated the past 15 years advocating for children. I have used every title as a platform to raise awareness and advance humanitarian efforts to empower women and help save the lives of the most vulnerable children globally. As a result, my philanthropic work has helped to raise more than $3.4 million dollars, impacting 2.3 million children and women around the world, and giving access to water, sanitation and hygiene programs that provided 4.3 million households access to clean water.
